Lydia and Jamie (what legends)

As I write this, I'm sat at home during New Zealand's Level 4 lockdown so it's a strange time but it means I have the time to pour over some of our beautiful weddings from earlier in the summer.

First up are Lydia and Jamie. Being based in London meant lots of emails, phone calls and Skype chats and I loved every minute of it. From the get go, they knew what they wanted ~ bright, beautiful florals and a special celebration with their friends and family from NZ and those who joined them from the UK. They were such fun to catch up with.

Every chat with them was a treat, getting to know more about them as a couple and what makes them tick. Through the 12 or so months we got to know about eachothers respective friends, weddings, hens parties and pet dogs (both of whom are called Molly).

When I finally got to meet them, it was like catching up with old friends, after half an hour or so of laughs and banter, we finally got around to wedding chat. Finalising the details, logistics and the selection of locally grown blooms.

Doing wedding florals, I always get a mild dose of anxiety, it's a big deal being part of someones wedding. No matter how relaxed the couple are, I always fret that something won't turn out like they want, even when it's for a couple who trust us to create something beautiful for them. Because Lydia and Jamie felt more like old friends than clients, my anxiety levels were even higher. Once I walked through the door with her bouquets and saw her (and her mothers face) light up, I was beyond thrilled. Then her father praising me for offering to help attach his buttonhole was the moment that nearly set me over the edge. I just about cried. It's those seemingly insignificant touches that make me very proud.

It was genuinely such a treat working with Lydia and Jamie, I wish they lived in Auckland so we could catch up for a beer. Wishing you both all the best.

Their special day wouldn't have been the same without the rest of the talent ~
